School Referendum FAQ

What technology initiative did the PTOs’ fund?

Over the past five years, the PTOs have annually contributed an average of $38,000 towards funding technology needs in the District.

The PTOs of all three schools have raised and donated funds for a three-year technology initiative. Thirty three teachers volunteered to attend 64 hours of unpaid class time over last summer and in return were given a technology package containing a laptop, a digital camera and an MP3 player. These teachers signed a contract with the District to provide training to other teachers in the following summers and evaluate the use of these technologies in offering differentiated instruction for each child in their classroom.

This collaborative effort, sponsored by the PTOs, enables District 90 to provide teachers with innovative instructional support and enhances students’ ability to learn and integrate new technology. The technology funded by this initiative is currently being used in language arts, math, science, social studies and music classes. As more teachers are trained, all curriculum areas will be included.
