School Referendum FAQ

What is the Technology Plan and what will it cost?

In June, 2005, District 90 submitted a three year technology plan as required by the Illinois State Board of Education. Approval of this plan is required to be eligible to apply for and receive any state and federal technology funding. The Technology Plan was drafted based on the collaborative efforts of the Technology Action Team, a group of 24 River Forest residents, parents, teachers and administrators who volunteered their time and expertise to evaluate technology needs within our school district. The Technology Plan was intentionally broad in scope and oriented to the future.

There was significant deliberation on the scope of the Technology Plan among members of the Technology Action Team. In the end, they decided to recommend a plan that was very cutting-edge and designed to be on the forefront of current educational applications for technology. While the Board recognized the efficacy of the proposed plan, they purposefully limited the scope of the approved plan given District 90’s financial constraints. Currently, the D90 technology budget supports maintaining the current infrastructure.

The purpose of this referendum is not to increase computer equipment.
