What's At Risk if the School Referedum Doesn't Pass

What Would Be Lost if the Referendum Fails?

$3.8 million will be cut from academic programs over three years starting in the 2006-07 school year. Cuts will include:

  • Elimination of 21.5 teacher positions
  • Dramatic increase in class size, by 67% per class
  • Elimination of before and after school support programs
  • Elimination of all music classes and programs
  • Elimination of all art classes and programs
  • Elimination of all foreign language classes
  • Elimination of gifted/accelerated programs
  • Elimination of interscholastic sports and all clubs
  • Elimination of an administrator position
  • Elimination of any other classes that are not mandated by the state or federal government

Many area suburbs that were not able to pass their school referendum have had to implement similar cuts. This has had a strong negative impact on quality of education and property values, resulting in a downward cycle that will persist for years to come.

To maintain the quality of our schools, educate our children well and keep our property values strong, please vote "YES" for the referendum on March 21, 2006.
